Photographer's Note
The Nizwa Fort is a large castle in Nizwa.
It was built in the 1650s by the second Ya’rubi ; Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'rubi, although its underlying structure goes back to the 12th century. It is Oman's most visited national monument. The fort was the administrative seat of authority for the presiding Imams and Walis in times of peace and conflict. The main bulk of the fort took about 12 years to complete and was built above an underground stream. The fort is a powerful reminder of the town's significance through turbulent periods in Oman's long history. It was a formidable stronghold against raiding forces that desired Nizwa's abundant natural wealth and its strategic location at the crossroads of vital routes.

Hello Andrea,
I thought this was a dam from the thumbnail!
I suppose the strength of the structures is comparable!
You have chosen a very strong viewpoint so that the line of the upper wall guides irresistibly from the f/g to a strong vanishing point. The minaret is equally strongly placed in the frame, right on the thirds line.
It's a very clear photograph, where the light is amazingly effective in emphasising the repeating shapes.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello andrea,
impressive row of bows in solid rock. I like the way you show the landscape beyond the walls.

Hello Andrea
Interesting to see how very old buildings look so modern. Impressive repetition of these arches and interesting to see the slight irregularity in this repetition. Good composition with a balanced partition between foreground and the background landscape.
Have a good weekend, groet Rob

Hi Andrea
Nice perspective with the repeating pattern, the tower is well located. The dark doors at the back are too eye catching for my taste.
Cheers
