Istanbul Arkeoloji Muzesi'ne her sene baharda bir kere giderim. Gün yüzü gormeyecek milyonu askin eser depolarinda beklerken, sanki ikinci kere unutulmus ve gomulmusler gibi gelir. Ama arada yeni eserlerin de sergilendigini goruyor mutlu oluyorsunuz.

Katman katman, dikey tarihi ile Istanbul her gun yeni bir seyler cikariyor onumuze, tasnif edilip yine depolara kalkacak. Olanaksiz, akinitya karsi bir caba gibi... Marmaray kazilarinda Uskudar, Yenikapi, Cagaloglu yorelerinden 5 metrede cikan canak comlek parcalari... Allah korumus, ya 15 metreye inilseymis?

Gec Bizans ve Osmanli doneminden kalma. Bazilari cok daha eski olabilir zira Yenikapi'da ortaya cikan liman dunyanin en eski limanlarindan biri. Serginin İsmi "Gün isigi, Istanbul'un 8000 yili" Garanti bankasi sponsor olmus, bu tur destekleri de takdir etmek lazim.

Istanbul Archeology museum houses over a million pieces in its depots that would probably never see the day of light again. Sort of a second burial in the mazes of oblivion once again. And yet, Istanbul with its vertical layers of history spurts out new findings every day revealing the fact that it has been home to humankind for thousands of years. Yesterday Byzantium, today we are here, tomorrow who?

These are the pieces that await to be sorted out and classified. They were unearthed at approximately 5 meters during the excavations for the new submerged tunnel; Marmaray, which will connect both sides of the Marmara sea. They mainly date back to late Byzantium and Ottoman periods.
