Photographer's Note

My soul longs for a place it once rested,
Nestled in a world that is no longer existing.
Time passes slowly as memories fade,
Reminding me of a childhood,
Where my heart forever lays.
Waves of pain colliding upon shores,
Grains of sand now seeping through hands
Of time now turned.
Into an existance that now seems
Unendingly bleak,
Lost without those shores that once made
Me complete.
My soul is now lost forever in that sea,
Filling me with desire,
Want, and need.
To just once feel the waves of passion engulf me.
To quench fires within my soul,
Uncovering new desires left untold.
Visions of those shores embedded in my mind,
Are now just fragments of dreams,
That only my subconscious can bind.
One day I will return to that sea.
Until that day I will continue to dream,
Of sea foam waves crashing over me...

Yaz bitiminde ve filmin sonunda aynen boyle bir kare vardi. 14-15 yaslarinda, ruhlari onarilmayacak bir bicimde orselenmis iki cocugun sahilde amacsizca ve anlamsizca dolastigi bir goruntu. Fotografinda da ayni icburkuculugu buldum, film yuzunden mi bilmiyorum ama neseli bir fotograf olmadigi kesin. I hate school tadinda ve tam senin tarzin. Sadik hayraninizim valla Korkut bey, burada gercekten bir tarzi olan, en farkli fotografcilardan birisisiniz. Ilham veren, heyecanlandiran, oyku anlatan fotograflar cekmek herkesin harci diil. ))

Olá Korkut, the atmosphere is great and I like very much the diagonal of the composition connecting the two persons and the pier. I see these two sillouettes as belonging to the same person, like two diferent moments of his soul registered at the same time in this special place of him. You just make one connects with the poetic side of things :)

Wonderful seascape in sepia the crashing surf is a powerful element to this fine image as well and the beach litter with foot prints and lesiurely strid of the young man in the foreground. Very fine haunting poem to go with this excellent photo.

Cüneyt Bey senin için bir Belek serisi hazırlamıştı ama bence sen de TEkniğini geliştirip theme oluşturma işine girmelisin. I hate school ile neredeyse benzer tada sahip bir fotoğraf. PP çok başarılı, insan ve yıpranmış iskele faktörleri derinliğin dibine vurmuş. Ufuk çizgisi sanki jiletle kesilmiş kadar düz, 0,01 derecelik ir eğim bile yok! Köpükler de dün içtiğim biraları hatırlatıyor. Bakalım Marmaris'te ne mucizeler yaratacaksın...

it seems that your short trip to Belek last autumn provided you with an endless reservoir of good photos - even bigger than that from Mykonos.
I like the retro pp of this compo. It reminds me strongly of lifestyle photos from Italian beaches as they were taken in the fifties. Only Sophia Loren is missing. :-)

Hi Korkut,
Very enchanting play of lights and shadows here! This is the best in this photo I think (I can mention the contrast here too).
The composition is also great, I like the two boys added to the scenery. I prefer B&W to sepia for most of the time, but I think sepia is better here (I tried it).
Only the mole seems to be a bit oversharpened, it's an easy job to correct it with photoshop.

You have chosen a duotone or sepia that maximizes the expressiveness of this shot. The photo is filled with a sense of possibility, highlighted by the two figures -- one standing in the waves and the other walking in an unknown direction.
Your writing adds a greater dimension of nostalgia, desire, and passion.
I really like this full effect of visual imagery and words. I think that is the highest possibility of TE.

I'm not usually a fan of sepia toning, but here I think it works well, giving the image a feeling of warm nostalgia.
You made good use of the strong horizontal layers in this scene, and the light has worked in your favour to give the image more impact.

Hi Korkut, somehow I haven't seen this one before. I love the sepia tones here, it gives a fiftyish feel to the image (perhaps the boy's Tintin quiff also adds to that perception:) A simple but beautiful and well-balanced composition, worthy of the positive critiques it has received. Regards,

Eski Hayat dergilerinden firlamis belgeseller gibi nostalji yaptim biraz bu kareyi gorunce. B/W secimini kutlarim. Kompozisyon, pozlama ve detay kalitesi enfes.
