Photographer's Note
This is the first "inside" view of Sumela Monastery, after the visitor has passed the main entrance gate to the Monastery. On the left side of the photo, you can see the fascade of the main cave-church of the monastery, fully covered with frescoes.
My photos from Sumela Monastery were used for an historical publication about this very important monastery. In ***WORKSHOP***, my cover photo for this publication.

Hello Hercules.
This shot really gives one a superb view of the monastery, with the various people showing well the scale of the rocks and the buildings. The structure intruding on the right side adds some shadow and depth to the photo, and nice tiers of roof tiles. A very detailed photo that represents the monastery superbly - I had a good look at your book cover, too.

Andrew

Hello Hercules,
Very beautiful general view of the well known monastery well framed with the overhanging rock and with the several roofs near the abyss.
I visited this monastery in July 1984 but that day it was almost completely hidden in the fog.
I have the impression that now most of it has been restored.
The picture is well composed and well detailed.
Best regards, Paul
