"Girl" from Cavusin, a photo from Nevsehir, Central Anatolia

Photographer's Note

From Istanbul I went for a two days trip to Kapadokya. I used my time effectively, travelling by night bus, so I had two full days for sightseeing. It was organized tour. I liked it, there was a small nice group, but I think that the organisation could be better, there was some tome lost. For a night, we stayed in a small hotel in Cavusin. Maybe it was the best part of it. As soon we came to the hotel, I run to see the Rose Valley alone. It was fantastic, after all the crowded places in Pasabag or Goreme, not to see anyone around. Here the group of fairy chimneys that I liked most. In my imagination, I see the old lady descending the hill, and in the end of the group, young girl, in old dresses and bonnets. Can you see them too?

love this! It is a beautifully warm and fascinating image, and yes I can see what you mean about the humanoid parallels here. I really like the texturing and detailing and to be honest it looks like a meeting of alien beings to me. Execution and presentation just wonderful.

An excellent image of an attractive place. I can see the older woman on the left with her head angled down to watch her step. The younger girl on the right has a better posture, a slender neck & a nice hairdo. The colours and low angled light complete the scene. Well-captured

There is lovely quality in this picture with fine detail in the rock. The golden bush anchors the composition in the corner and yes I can see the shapes of people! Beautiful light and a lovely sky - perfect.

Quite impressive rock formations indeed. I wonder how those darker stones ended up on top of these eroded formations.
The nice tone in tone coloring of the landscape is equally pleasing.

Howdy Malgo,

Excellent scene of Nature's 'rock people', or at least that is what I perceive. The resolution and lighting in your view are excellent.

This place is reminiscent of New Mexico's 'Bisti Badlands', another Nature magical creation, but remote and difficult to get to and find.

ho ben presenti queste meraviglie della natura che incantano nella loro imponenza e nella diversità di colore della pietra che li sovrasta.
Raramente una fotografia riesce a renderne a meraviglia la loro grandiosità se non messi a confronto con la figura umana.
La tuia foto ha il grande pregio di proporli da un punto di vista inconsueto che ne mostra il loro insieme in una conposizione molto curatae che si pregia anche di bei colori e di una luce eccellente.

I have been to Turkey two times, but never in Kapadokya. Your wonderful shot shows that this rocky area is worth visiting. The forms of the rocks in the picture are absolutely fantastic and they really resemble a group of women. Excellent composition, lovely light, beautiful colors and perfect quality!

Une bonne photo de ces étonnantes et célèbres formations géologiques (en France, on appelle ça des "demoiselles coiffées"). Tu as bénéficié d'une très belle lumière que tu as exploitée au mieux.

Hi Malgo,

I've yet to get down there. Good sharpness and stunning warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky and soft honey yellow colored rocks arranged in incredible patterns. The fairy chimneys or hoodoos are a unique geological formation which this area is famous for. They almost look like statues of people from this angle. Tfs!

As you know Malgo, we can't control the weather, yet you enjoyed the desired condition for photography.

This is somewhere I've been wanting to visit for some time, and your photograph simple reinforces the desire. Lovely light of early evening, and excellent compositional sense. Now you mention it I suppose I see what you mean about the old lady and the girl, but I've got very little visual imagination, so really I see rocks! On a smaller scale, there are similar rock formations in southern France. Maybe I'll post a "reply".

a wiec wyglada na to ze podrozowalas tam z wycieczka zorganizowana. Ja pojechalem tam wlasnie z wycieczka z Antalyi i bardzo tego pozniej zalowalem. Sporo czasu stracilismy np na jakies sklepy itp omijajac sporo wspanialych krajobrazow. Mielismy np po drodze Konye i przejechalismy nie zatrzymujac sie choc o to prosilem ale przerwy na papierosa byly co chwile.
Nie mniej widze ze udalo Ci sie calkiem sporo zobaczyc. Piekny krajobraz w jesiennej szacie, ladne swiatlo ktore stworzylo ciekawa atmosfere. To bez watpienia jedno z najbardziej dziwnych miejsc na swiecie i jesli jeszcze kiedys dane mi bedzie tam sie wybrac to na pewno chce to zrobic powoli i samemu nocujac chociazby w jednym z tych hoteli wydrazonych w skale..
Pozdrawiam serdecznie i do zobaczenie niebawem :)

Wlasnie obejrzalam twoje zdjecia z Kapadocji. Bardzo ladne. Tutaj swiatlo w polaczeniu z ciemnym niebem tworzy niepowtarzalna atmosfere.
Te "grzyby" to chyba najciekawsze formy skalne w tym rejonie. Ja zrobilam kilka ich zdjec niedaleko miasta Urgup.
