At some instant, the Maiden’s Tower, Dolmabahçe Palace and the new high rises on the hill were aligned. I was astonished to see that the two historic icons were dwarfed by the mushrooming high rises.

Hello Murat,

Istanbul a world city between the new and old world.
The sky scraper are indeed nice but I like the old small frontages in foreground.
An excellent panorama view about the area.
Colours and area are nice to look at.
Nice composition and good presentation.

Hello Murat,
One often wonders what goes on in the mind of urban planners! But I suppose they have a job to do and people have to be housed. An interesting documentary image showing the stark contrast between old and new. I like the play of light across the dome. The passing boats help enliven the scene and add another dimension to the composition.

The tower was under bright light that distinct its presence on the scene from the town on the shaded part background's.
Still impressive the wide edifice of the Dolmabahçe Palace across and in special contrast - the towering buildings on far. This is an almost every city problem nowadays, as no available land for more houses within city limits.

Hello Murat,
Tall buildings like this didn't exist during my first visitis to Istanbul, now they are everywhere. I like skyscrapers quite often, but these don't really fit the surroundings so well. Orhan Pamuk's novel "A Strangeness in My Mind" describes the changes of the city very well. This photo also shows them well.

Another great view of the city from the water. The lighter and much smaller tower in the foreground is seen wonderfully against the tall, shaded towers. Great contrast, thanks to the fine light here too. Well seen and captured.

I agree, my first impression of this place was quite imposing, those towers really really dominate. Surprising to see the light detailed classical building below. The light on the lower part of the view is really cool

The brightly lit architectural styles of both historic edifices caught my eye immediately as the main show while the modern concrete jungle behind offers a nice combination and the stark contrast between them! Excellent processing, well done, Congrats.

i've heard or read before that Istanbul has one of the most highest numbers of skyscrapers in the world! I remember thinking that was hard to believe but its true.
here we get to see a glimpse of that in the bg, and in the fg is the ever popular Iron Maiden.
excellent shot in the harsh lighting conditions at the time.
