Photographer's Note

The New Mosque (Yeni Cami), in Istanbul's Eminönü district on the Golden Horn at the southern end of Galata Bridge, is officially the Mosque of the Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) because it was commissioned by Safiye, mother of Sultan Mehmet III in 1597.

After her son died, Safiye was no longer Queen Mother, with a queen's powers and revenues, so her mosque sat unfinished.

Six sultans later, Turhan Hatice, Queen Mother of Sultan Mehmet IV, took up the work and finished it, which is another reason it's called the Vailde Sultan's Mosque.

Merhaba! It is unique shot of Yeni Cami - Everybody coming to Turkey almost always ending on Aya Sophia or Blue Mosque. Wery well captured - it appears outlines of the object, and that is enogh! Regards. Mac

Gokhan,

Now this is what a silhouette is supposed to present the viewer! One question on the post processing for my own learning. It looks like I can see jpeg artifacts bordering the silhouette portion. Did this occur during post-processing or just as a sympton of saving to jpeg? I ask because I have had this happen to the occasional shot on which I've tried to reduce noise only in the sky. THis makes my tree silhouettes look pitiful :) Well done!
