Photographer's Note

Standing on the sidewalk at this race, I tried to capture the feeling you get when cyclists rush just past you, ripping the hot mid-summer air at over 50 km/h. All you see are colorful shapes zipping by… You can almost see trough the cyclist at the forefront

I am somewhat puzzled by cyclists. Do they really enjoy pushing so hard on those pedals, hitting the pavement for endless hours, as opposed to so many other places on Earth where people work just as hard, earning their living transporting goods on their two-wheelers.

About the event: the “Mardis Cyclistes de Lachine” are held every Tuesday evening of June, July and August. The first race was held for 27 years ago.

Since the picture was tilted, I rotated it by 6 ° ccw. I then cropped it slightly to keep the focus on the foreground group.
