Photographer's Note

With outdoor gardening still a few months away,it is always nice to have some indoor flowering plants to alleviate the painful longing for summer.
This Peace Lily(Spathiphyllum Figaro), a herbaceous evergreen with dark waxy leaves, has been displaying its cobra-like beauty on our home for several weeks and it should normally keep on produced flowers will into the summer.
Although the plant originated in central and south america, this particular hybrid variety was developed in Holland a few years ago and was awarded the best flowering plant at the Dutch Horti-Fair in 1999.
It is also renowned for it's ability to purify air in the house.NASA even praised the Peace Lily in the Clean Air Study for their ability to remove formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide from interior air.
The reason why I got my camera out for this shot was that I was walking past the plant just as the last of the evening sun was streaming in through a window. The white picked up the warm yellow tones of the setting sun while the dark burgundy wall remained in the shade.I also found it an interesting composition with the back & front views of the flower.
