Je n'avais pas de filtres à densité neutre avec moi alors j'ai dû attendre au moins deux heures dans un froid surprenant pour ce temps de l'année pour attendre que la lumière baisse et enfin avoir la photo que je voulais. Je voulais profiter des magnifiques verts dans la rivière en bas. Nous étions encore tôt au printemps alors la rivière était basse, mais bon, je suis quand même satisfait du résultat.
Je n'avais pas de trépied non plus alors j'ai dû placer la caméra contre une pierre juste au-dessus du précipice que vous voyez…j'ai été chanceux que la caméra ne plonge pas!

Hi Marc.

It's true. A shot is better than no shot, but you also did this with style. This is truly one of those landscapes that will make me take the first plane to Canada one day, but it takes a good photographer to take the right pictures. This is an angle I haven't seen before and I like it. Well done also to do it without a tripod. The composition turned out great!

Hello Marc,
when I started posting again, after some years in September, it was already possible to show big photo's.
Good colors in pour photo of the wild turquoise river in the mountains.

Une photo d'une grande qualité technique . L'effet de la longue pose sur la rivière en contre bas est très réussi . Impressionnant aussi , l'hôtel aux fenêtres éclairées .

très beau résultat avec ce pdv, bon effet avec l'aspect et la teinte de l'eau et avec ces lumières de l'immeuble, bien réussie malgré les difficultés dont tu parles dans ta note.

Hi Marc,

You chose a good time to take the photo, with the lights on in the hotel, but enough daylight to see the surrounding landscape. The color and textures in the river are great, and the snow-capped mountains in the background complete a wonderful photo.

Hello Marc,
I was impressed with the 30 sec. exp. taken on this nature's scenery, and a rock's shelf as a substitue to the tripod needed.
This gave the water show a "silkey" texture, and the lights on the Banff known hotel complex, a bit of extra shine - nice result. However it would be interesting to see how this comes out on a shorter exposure time, and lower F number, just my personal preferences.

As to answer your pixel question - it had been around better than one year long.

This reminds me the hotel from the movie The Shining. A massive building and in such a wild looking location, beautiful. I really like how you composed this with the drop down to the green silk water enhancing the sense of isolation in this place. The golden light of the hotel looks very inviting too, it's a beautiful building.

That hotel must be a wonderful place to stay! Great pov and composition. I like the exposure and the colours, specially of the water, and it's great with the hotel illuminated.

Nice work and great commitment to stay for hours in the cold to get the shot. Patience is one of the most important things for a landscape photographer to get the shot while most would go home early without the shot.

What a beautiful place. The colour of that water is out of this world. You did very well improvising without a tripod and not losing the camera. The lack of a tripod is kind of obvious with the way you framed the shot, cutting off the mountain tops like that on the right. But you did the best you could with what you had at the time. Still a very good photo of a magnificent place.

great to see you back on TE, we need all the members we can get - as you may have heard alot of members have been leaving and not coming back.

as for the photo....Oh man...i was in Banff just a few weeks ago and i was looking for this composition....where exactly is this taken from?
do you remember the trail name or the hike name?
I'll be going back to banff again

reading your note, you endured alot of conditions to get this one, so good on ya to follow through.

love the look of the forest green colors, and the aqua colors of the water with the long exposure.
