Photographer's Note
After being away from TE for more than a year, I will try to participate again. I have been some photos since, but my number 1 priority in life is raising our little girl who was born in May 2010.
The photo above is of a sunset at Mara Lake in British Columbia, Canada taken on one of the evenings during our stay there.
About this photo: We were in the Shuswap Region of in British Columbia, Canada at the end of June. We spent about a week in a cabin at Mara Lake which was wonderful. We go here every year as it is some sort of get together with family of husband who live in Calgary.
The photo above was taking on one of the evenings at Mara Lake after a thunderstorm with some heavy rain. It was around sunset and the clouds looked amazing, like the sky was on fire. I couldn't pass on the opportunity to take a shot of that. It was still raining a bit at the time I took the photo.
~Camera Settings:
*Camera Model: Sony Alpha DSLR A200
*Focal Length: 18mm
*F-Number: F/10
*Exposure Time: 1/15 sec.
*ISO Speed: ISO-100
*Exposure Program: Aperture Priority (A)
*Exposure Compensation (E/V): -1.0 step
I used a circular polarizer and I added some contrast and saturation in Photoshop to this photo to bring out the colours a little more. I also worked with the curves a little to brighten up the darker areas.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you like this photo!
Ann :)
Some information about Mara Lake: Mara Lake is located in the Shuswap region in the middle of the province of British Columbia, Canada. You can find this lake between the towns of Salmon Arm and Sicamous along Highway 97A. Along the shores of Mara Lake you will also find the 5.9 hectare Mara Lake Provincial Park. This park is a day use area and offers a variety of activities. Mara Lake also provides important habitat for the salmon. Mara Lake has several broad stretches of sandy beaches which is great for relaxing, enjoying the views and swimming. This lake is also popular for fishing, boating, canoeing and other water sports.
The climate in this area is fairly warm and dry. Usually it’s sunny and the temperatures can go up to 35-38 C (90–100 F). The lakes and their surroundings area are an ideal holiday destination for many British Columbians and Albertans. Especially those who live in the city, they come here to relax, enjoy water sports and more. It’s about 500km (312mi) east of Vancouver and about 500km (312mi) west of Calgary.

Hi Ann,
The point of view is sending my eyes toward the trees which is giving depth to the composition. It is also allowing me to see the details of the clouds. The sunset is giving nice colors to the sky. Have a nice day.

Ann, Congratulations on the arrival of your little girl!
This is a gorgeous capture. It does look genuinely like fire, especially with the upsweep that's apparent along the lower edge of the sky, rising like flame-tips and smoke -- imperiling the trees :) Nice composition, and of course, color. I like how the small hints of blue set off the orange glow.
Kind regards,
Lisa

Hallo Ann,
Inderdaad, de lucht staat in vuur en vlam.
De mooiste wolkenpakken vind ik deze links net boven de heuvelrug. Prachtig ook met de silhouetten van de bomen op de rode achtergrond.
Vele groeten, Paul
