Downtown Yonge

This photo could be seen as Toronto’s answer to this photo from New York. Seen here is a view of Yonge Street and Downtown Yonge, the shopping and entertainment district in Toronto. It was taken not far from Yonge-Dundas Square, which was completed in 2002 and can be described as Toronto’s Times Square. The area is located around the junction of Dundas Street and Yonge Street. The latter is a major north-south thoroughfare and has existed since 1794, when Ontario’s first colonial administrator John Graves Simcoe named it for his friend Sir George Yonge.
