Emerald Lake, a photo from British Columbia, Western

Photographer's Note

Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, which is next to Banff. The lake is blue/green in color (which explains the name of the lake), but difficult see that in the photo. I was actually taking pictures in the opposite direction, and before I left, I looked around, and thought, hmmm... that's kind of interesting. I snapped one quick photo, which turned out much better than any that I had taken of the subject I originally went there to photograph.
I used a polarizer to darken the blue of the sky and show off the interesting clouds. Scanned from a Fuji Velvia slide.

Hi Alvin,
what a great shot,I love the patterns in the clouds and the colours of the rflections is amazing. Good composition as well.
What do you do PP with your polarised velvia scans? I am curious because on some of mine the colours have been so intense that I have desaturated them a little, to make them more believable. Have you adjusted the colours at all here or is this straight out of the scanner?

Wow, this is amazing,the sky, mountains and lake are perfectly balanced, a feast for the eyes. The only thing that can go is that little triangular piece at the bottom right corner, but I know I'm being too picky now.

Which colours and sharpness! The greens are beautiful, the sky is so nice, and the mountain is really contrasting with the green of the trees.

I like the composition with the slopes of both the near and far mountains dropping down to the right. The colour of the water and the reflection are superb. And what a sky!

One word Alvin.... "WOW".

Fantastic shot, I love it. The colors are amazing, the detail is sharp- the composition is perfect... I think the horizon could use a slight clockwise rotation; but otherwise the shot is flawless.

I'll be up this way in just over a month... looking forward to it!
