Montmagny

Photographer's Note

When the Intercolonial railway of Canada bought the Quebec & Rivière-du-Loup line in 1879, the new owner replaced three railway station including this one located at Montmagny. The two others were built at Charny and Rivière-du-Loup. The architecture belongs to the second generation of railway station built on this line. The two major characteristics are: the bull’s eye near the roof and the mansard roof.

Le toit en mansarde et l’oeil-de-boeuf pour éclairer le grenier sont deux caractéristiques de la nouvelle génération de gares construites par la compagnie de chemin de fer Intercoloniale du Canada avoiur acquis la ligne du Grand-Tronc entre Charny et Rivière-du-Loup en 1879. La gare de Montmagny a été déclarée gare patrimoniale en 1994.

Picture shows the west face of the railway station seen by an eastbound train toward Rivière-du-Loup, Halifax or Edmunston. On the wokrshop, I placed the east face of the station with a Canadian National railway freight train entering the station as a bonus.

Une photo de la façade est a été placée dans le workshop pour fins de comparaison. Moins spectaculaire à cause de la clôture environnante, l’arrivée d’un train de marchandise à destination d’Edmunston au Nouveau-Brunswick compense pour la clôture.

Bonjour Jean-Pierre,

C'est vraiment une belle petite gare que tu nous montre la. Juste un petit commentaire, les couleurs sont un peu faibles, peut-etre qu'en augmentant le contraste et en diminuant legerement la clarete, ca ameliorerait les couleurs.

Hey Forest, I like your view however I have a few problems with the photo.

First of all you have cut the top of the building off, probably not intentional I know but it really puts me off when seeing something like that.
Second it looks a little out of focus, i.e. a bit soft, try some sharpening in an image editor, and aldo there is a very bright sky so it coudl do with ta bit of darkening.
