Photographer's Note

Filipinos are a very religious people. This said, when the people of my family's town of origin celebrate their yearly Fiesta, it has religious overtones. This past year the Fiesta was held in a Catholic Retreat in Newmarket (north of Toronto).

The scene in the picture is what greets you on the way in. And I think it's funny.

I love the humour found in religion. Take this statue of Mary standing before a cheap replica of the Ten Commandments. I don't know if this is a version of the 1st commandment that is common but I have never heard it written as:

"Thou shalt not have strange gods before me."

Whoa! So if I worship my freaky deities AFTER ya is that cool JC? Or how about if I don't think my boy Ganesh is all that weird, is that ok? Cheers!

=======

Post-pro: lot's of curves adjustments, levels (to get rid of background clutter), and I also changed the colour of the 1st commandment to red to bring it out.
