Photographer's Note

A simple shot, from my old neighbourhood, in the suburb of Vancouver called Surrey. I've recently moved to downtown Vancouver, about 50km from this place, so maybe I'm a little homesick for the wide open spaces of my former home where the sky seems to go on forever. Actually, the photo may be a little misleading, making it look like there is nothing but farms in Surrey. There are a lot of houses too, but the feeling of space is what I was trying to get across.

This was taken with a polarizing filter and an incredible sky with high cirrus clouds, which we seem to get a lot of in the Vancouver area. I was talking to a visitor from Toronto, Canada's largest city, and he remarked that you never see a sky like this in Toronto, which made me feel lucky to live where I do.
