Photographer's Note
This is Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Canadian Rockies.
For this shot, I bracketed five different exposures, one full-stop apart like this: -2, -1, 0, 1, 2. Then I blended the different photographs together with the HDR plug-in inside Photoshop CS2. I also worked with color, saturation, contrast, and cropping.

Beautiful version of the 'standard' view across Lake Louise - that's not a criticism by the way. I'm still coming to terms with HDR as, although the process gives an image much closer to the way the eye perceives it, it can look very artificial in a photo. The way the detail has been drawn out in what is normally deep shadow on the left hand side is very effective. I do think the foreground is possibly a little light and tend to draw the eye too much.
Despite that I still think this is a first class image.

Magnificent colourful shot. Nicely composed with small things on the foreground (small vegetation and rocks) and big things in the background (large vegetation, tall mountains), that way the image is nice two sided. The water in the middle has a nice colour, really. Also the colours in the front are really nice, aswell as the lightplay on the pinetree's on the hills in the distance. Lovely cloudpattern too. You've aligned this all very nice.
I like the application of HDR here, a wonderful outcome is the result. I think you could apply a bit more sharpening, maybe only selectively on the foreground would probably be best.
Nice work, Congrats!

Hi Doug
I really like this frontal POV of the lake. And to see at the back a smooth V of the mountains.
Well done, good work, like always.
Saludos, Paula.
