Photographer's Note

It's almost time to get into the mountains again, so I went through some of my unposted shots of The Rocky Mountains. This is Mount Athabasca, on the border of Banff and Jasper National Parks. This is a rare triple continental divide, where the watersheds of the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans meet. On the other side of this mountain is the Columbia Icefield centre, one of the main attractions in Jasper National Park.

This was taken on film and scanned. It represents one of my earliest truly good shots, where I learned to meter for the snow and clouds and get a good exposure showing details in all areas. I thought I had lost this photo (due to poor filing) but I recently found it and scanned it.
