Photographer's Note
Xochimilco is a district on the outskirts of Mexico city, known by the ancient channels of the Aztecs, it is often called the Mexican Venice. With the language of the Aztecs, Xochimilco means "flower place". In this place is also the famous cemetery of dolls (La Isla de la Munecas).
The main entertainment is boating. Usually, each boat has its own name. Boats are controlled with a pole. They rest against a pole in the mud bottom and push off. This requires experience-boats are worth (and often and are sailing) take a careful to each other and in several ranks.
On personal impressions: How is the comparison with Venice?! Very bright, noisy, lots of tourists and even more Mariachi! But all this creates a certain festive atmosphere.
