Photographer's Note

This will end the series of Malecón statuary, at least for the short-term. THANK YOU ALL for the feedback and suggestions! I hope to return to La Paz within the year, and this exercise and your kind critiques have been a great inspiration -- when I return, I will do a comprehensive survey of the works along the Malecón! There are many, many more than what I have shown you here!

I present this dancer in color, just to give you some sense of the scene. In the background on the right you can make out part of the dreadlocked strings player posted yesterday, "Caracoles Músicos por Guillermo Gómez 2."

The wall in the background is all that is left of the century-old department store "La Perla de La Paz," which burned to the ground in October 2006. Efforts were made to preserve this wall, but I do not know if it is still standing or if it has been torn down.

Let me assure you that the wonderful textures in the dancer's seashell body are what you see in person and not just an exaggeration of the camera!
