Photographer's Note

I am standing directly in front of the entrance to the underworld and the tomb of Ukit Kan L'ek Tok'. When his tomb was opened, they found offerings of jade, shell, pyrite, bone, obsidian and flint, along with numerous vessels. One of the latter featured the emblematic glyph of Ek' Balam along with the lord's name. This facade presents dramatic sculptures of six personages (the rightmost not shown), each of whom adopts a different position, wears a rich costume with headdress, apparel and ornaments.
