Photographer's Note

La Paz has a great waterfront. The Kiosko is its centerpiece. You can climb the stairs for a nice view during the day or at sunset, or at night you can see bands or rallies there.

This image is one of dozens I shot for a contest from NG Traveler magazine -- hence the 3:4 aspect ratio and the large amount of open space at the top for the magazine title. Ultimately, I did not enter any of my shots -- I just felt like I had not quite gotten the right image in the right light.

Still, I like this foto and hope it makes you think of the carefree days of youth, when your bicycle was your portable seat for the beauties of the world. I do believe this boy was enjoying the sunset, the breeze, and the salt air!

I really like your photography.
I feel those warm colors very pleasant, the composition with high palms taken from low perspective is excellent.
That boy on the bicycle helped you to create a quiet mood.

Sometimes , we are proud of our pictures , but they don't have a lot of success :) .
Despite of the fact that this one has not been chosen , this is superb capture in this vertical format , a marvelous evening light , and the excellent presence of the young biker .

Hello Russ

Long time no see! This is a lovely image, and as you point out, it's the light that makes it special. Isn't it always? I approve of the slight under-exposure (no blown highlights), and the composition works for me, even if you say the space at the top was for another reason: for me it gives the scene room to breathe. I may have been tempted to remove the wires and floodlight on the tree, but I suspect you're above cheating like that!

Beautiful golden light, there's a real sense of summer and warmth here. I like the sense of movement too, with the little person on the bicycle. Excellent vertical frame, accentuating the vertical effect of the trees. Nice work, thanks for sharing.
