Balza Tagliata - Triponzo - Cerreto di Spoleto - (PG)
In Valnerina there are important communication routes that for centuries have allowed the Apennine ridge to be crossed.
The Old "Via Nursina" passing through Triponzo continued along the Corno valley, where the river dug the Mesozoic limestone generating very high cliffs and suggestive gorges, on the right side stands a system of walls and gullies that create an abyss of about 730 meters .
The narrowest point is called Balza Tagliata, a place where there is a surprising pre-Roman semi-gallery excavated in the rock and used to cross the Corno river, in fact, one of these cliffs was cut by man to obtain a overpass overlooking the river, the only road connecting the valley to get to Norcia SEE THE WS.
Along the stretch of Balza Tagliata also passed the former Spoleto-Norcia Railway which exceeded the gorge also through a tunnel dug into the rock.
Now it is no longer reachable due to the collapse of giant boulders, SEE THE WS.

Hello Silvio,
A slightly unusual photo from your camera. The low clouds covering the mountainsides make quite an impression. The curves of the slopes and the dense vegetation in the valley under the clouds make me think of traditional Chinese paintings. It's a surprise to find this view in Italy, but I like it very much.

The mist or low lying cloud hovering over the ridges brings an air of mystery to the landscape. I like the soft lights and understated tones.

Ciao Silvio,2 WS utili ed interessanti,ma la foto principale è davvero un gran spettacolo. Sembrano quegli scenari mattinieri dal Vietnam che ha postato spesso Abmdsudi,non trovi? What a wonderfully atmospheric photograph!
The tall mountains and swirling mist make one heck of a mysterious environment!
It looks as if some giant spider has been spinning sticky, gossamer threads across the upper valley! Absolutely amazing!

Silvio, sumptuous nature photo showing the fog covering the dense forest. The mountains top is partly hidden. Good framing, excellent resolution.
