Photographer's Note
A nun at the Bayon Temple
I uploaded a B&W version as a workshop, I wonder which one you like more. I like both versions equally...

It's difficult to say. Personally I like B&W photos a lot, and your workshop is definitely very good. On the other hand, the color is great too. Anyway, in both mediums is a very good photograph with alot of atmosphere. Very well done!

Excellent shoot. I agree with Manuel, I like the two photos, but I prefer the colored one. Fire light is escencially for this situation portrait.

Très réussi, une atmosphère de calme et de détermination se dégage de cette photo. J'aime beaucoup les couleurs, notamment la couleur du feu qui semble rebondir sur le visage du vieil homme puis atteindre l'enfant. bravo

hi maciek, what i like in the b&w version is the coldest atmosphere, because the fire is not so present and tones are down vs the color version. the advantage of the other one is the almost 3 layer scene ( the fire, the grudging nun and the kid) vs a more harmonious b&w version...I guess i like the b&w more in fact;-)

Excellent composition. I like the candle lighting up part of the shot. Also the contrast of the candle, with its soft light, against the rest of the photo, with cooler colours.

I'm very devided but I think I'm starting prefering the sepia version because it has a more intemporal feeling although the colors in this one are fabulous! Personaly I believe I prefer the other because the lack of colors create a smoother image and it's easier to look at it for a longer time and appreciate the great composition you've created.

I definitely go for the colored version. The fire glow at the bottom is excellent but it wasn't as glorious in the BW version.
Great shot!
Firts time to see your PBS(?) account and I am very surprised that you have too many good shots there that were not posted here in TE.

I'll take the colour version just because of the flame. I like the way they look at you, and how the opposition between youth and elder is so present in their eyes. The light (or its absence) is so nice here..

Hello Maciej
verry nice picture
and good composition
i prefere the black and white
but maybe to much noise or grain on the kids face
i dont think color in this picture give more
just maybe for the candle but its a detail
well done

I like both versions and it is hard to decide, but if you push me to decision, I'd say I like the color version better, and the reason is the yellow flame which is more powerful that in the b/w version. A great compostion, PP, and colors. Very good one )or two..), Maciek.

Great shot Macieck. You propose here two excellent versions that could both almost be posted for their own. B&W is great in tones and lighting and warm/cold tones work also great. When the compo is so good it's difficult to choose. The tilt works well, it's powerful. Excellent crop.

I personally prefer the color version because of the lighting. The B/W on the other hand gives a greater focus on the people. The lighting is in a pelasant way mysterious to me. Great shot.
ps: Is the shot tilted or was the building really non-horizontal?

Hey Maciek. This is a pretty cool shot. If this nun was paid royalties, she would be rich. It seems everyone who visits Angkor has at least one photo of her. The kid in the background is an excellent counter-balance in this shot, without him (or her, can't tell), this would not be near as effective. The bottom left is a little dark for my tastes, but other than that this on is very good.
