Port of Cassis, a photo from Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, Sud

Photographer's Note

The town of Cassis is located between Marseille and La Ciotat, just after Les Calanques finish. At the end of these fjords midi, that should be a refuge for smugglers and bandits, is a bay and a pretty fishing port, which give way to a small town, it goes up to the limestone massif, and the bleachers of a Greek theater.

So Cassis, a perfect place to feel free facing the Mediterranean framework. Yes, freedom is to feel you need to visit the city outside the summer period, where the abundance of people cause the opposite feeling.

Known in France by name the liquor of the same name (sweet liquor made from a type of wild strawberries with Spanish pacharan like flavor), Cassis is also one of the tourist references to Marseillais.

La ciudad de Cassis se encuentra entre Marsella y La Ciotat, justo después de que Les Calanques terminen. Al final de esos fiordos del midi, que debieron ser refugio de contrabandistas y bandidos, se encuentra una bahía y un coqueto puerto pesquero, que dan paso a una pequeña ciudad, que va ascendiendo hacia el macizo calcáreo, como los graderios de un teatro griego.

Así es Cassis, un marco perfecto para sentirse libre frente al Mediterraneo. Eso sí, para poder sentir está libertad es necesario visitar la ciudad fuera de las fechas estivales, donde la abundancia de gentes provocaría el sentimiento contrario.

Conocida en Francia por dar nombre al licor de su mismo nombre (licor dulce hecho de un tipo de frutillas silvestres, con sabor parecido al pacharan español), Cassis es también uno de los referentes turísticos para los Marselleses.

Hola Luis,

This is a splendid shot, really well composed, with the mooring ropes creating natural leads to the two boats. Then, there is a very natural progression into the attractive, colourful b/g.
The light was excellent, highlighting the colours and creating subtle reflections.

Superb photo. The colourful boats are excellent focal point of this photo.
There is a great use of depth of field to hold the viewer in the foreground boats, the nice water with beautiful reflections as well as boat landing place and town houses in BG, and the excellent lighting conditions have allowed for very good color saturation. The overall impact is very strong.
