Photographer's Note

26 January 2012 is Australia Day which commemorates the landing of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788 and the proclamation of British sovereighty over the land known as Terra Australis. This act ignored the sovereignty of the land's original inhabitants, the Australian aboriginal people. Their subsequent treatment by the Australian Government has been a blight on our history, culminating in the Australian Government finally issuing an apology to the Aboriginal people in 2001. Reconcilliation is something we must all strive for.

This is the beach and rockpool of my hometown Curl Curl.
