Photographer's Note

Lorsqu’on visite la ville de Jaisalmer au Rajasthan, il est de coutume d’aller à Sam Dunes, à l’entrée du désert du Thar, faire une petite randonnée chamelière au coucher du soleil. Gitans musiciens, danseuses, bateleurs… trouvent là l’occasion de gagner quelques roupies.   

When visiting Jaisalmer in Rajasthan it is quite usual to go to Sam Dunes, at the entrance of Thar desert, for a short camel ride at sunset. Gypsy musicians, dancers, jugglers ... take advantage of tourists to earn a couple of rupies.

Belle attitude, bien servie par un contrejour au soleil voilé qui décrit les ondulations du sable derrière lui. Je ne l'aurais pas centré mais décalé vers la droite.

Une belle contre-lumièreou le joueur de flûte est bien positionné devant les courbes gracieuses des dunes. Et oui, ce n'est peut-être pas tout à fait authentique mais que ferait-il sans les touristes ?

Eh bien, Patrick, celle-là; elle est superbe!!!
J'aime beaucoup les délicates teintes claires de l'arrière-plan, avec des formes très douces... comme si le flutiste avait si bien charmé le paysage que celui-ci se soit mis à onduler au son de la flute. C'est plein de poésie, et si ce n'était la montre rutilante, d'éternité... Félicitations!!!

Very beautiful image Patrick, It was the red turban that first caught my attention, but now I see it is much better than I first thought, excellent quality, as someone said worthy of National Geographics & that for sure. Love the sand dunes in BG, only distraction for me, but this is not your fault is the bright shinning gold watch, but I guess it's an indication of some wealth & progress. Well done, compliments.

Tu as tres bien utilisé l arriere plan de dunes (sans ciel) ce qui donne une ambiance originale et surtout lumineuse. En plus, ca a permis de faire ressortir le rouge du turban.

Alors monsieur Patrick, vous avez reçu un nouvel automatix en ce jour si spécial. C'est le minimum qu'une compagne bienveillante peut offrir, vous en conviendrez certainement. ;-)) Ceci dit, c'est difficile de faire mieux qu'un D700... Un appareil photo 3D peut-être ?
Encore une photo que tu détiens depuis 3 ans sur ton disque dur. Heureusement qu'il n'y a pas de sanction pour ce genre de détention. La libération de cette photo a quand même suscité une fervente liesse à ce que je vois et je partage entièrement cette joie.
Je pense que je ne vais rien apporter de plus dans mon commentaire que ce qui a été dit dans les 46 commentaires qui me précèdent (hormis des âneries peut-être), je ne vais donc pas m'étendre. C'est assurément une belle photo qui méritait d'être relâchée. Le top du top aurait été un liseret noir séparant l'encadrement blanc du fond jaune de TE. Tu peux m'appeler rabat-joie si tu veux.

A perfect shot of this man playing a flute on the dunes. Despite the strong backlighting, the exposure is perfect - the man doesn't look silhouetted. This is national-geographic quality!!

On entend presque le son des flutes! Je me demande de quel instrument il s'agit avec ces deux tuyaux ?
Excellente composition avec le musicien solitaire au milieu des dunes désertiques, comme s'il en faisait partie intégrante.

Hello Patrick,

I like the original composition you chose for this picture, with plenty of space left for the dunes in the background. The bright red turban works perfectly as a "center of gravity" for the whole scene. Sharp details and perfect DOF (one can even see footprints on the second dune!).

Tu as un certain talent pour nous présenter des personnes à l'aide de très beaux portraits ! Celui-ci ne déroge pas à la régle et il est en plus baigné d'une très belle lumière !
Tu demandes l'autorisation aux personnes avant de les photographier, ou cela est fait à la volée ?
