Photographer's Note
An alternative 180degree view to a previous post of this area.
This is taken from north bank of the River Tees, at the threshold of the Transporter Bridge, a well known landmark.
Middlesbrough has a very proud industrial history, steel making, bridges, ships, and lately the oil industry. Sadly most of this is now gone, though little pockets remain.
Much effort has gone into regeneration, and there are remarkable successes evident around the town. This particular view shows a juxtapostion of the past and the present; the neglected old ferry, the old crane structure, the new Temonos sculpture, and the Middlesbrough football ground.
Location, and little yellow man.

Hello Martin - The lemony colour with the deep red contrast is especially attractive I think and I like the composition very much. The large expanse of sea and similarly-coloured sky is nicely balanced with the central detailed area. You call the shot Yesterday No 2 and somehow, despite the buildings, the shot has overtones of a bygone age, maybe the colour does it? Nice job. Enjoy the weekend. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Martin,
another very interesting and excellently composed impression of this already well known place accompanied by a very interesting note. The light and the colors create a fascinating mood. I have a fascination with everything decaying; but here it is also the extreme contrast between the modern sculpture and the old ship that makes the image successful.
My compliments!
Warm regards
Harriet

Hello Martin,
There is something about the colours with the touches of red on and around the old ferry that I like very much about this photo. A great record of the industrial past and current decay.
Best wishes, Ann

Hello Martin,
You have found and captured an interesting scene. I don't quite know why myself but I feel "life" in this image. It is good to know that regeneration project has been a success. An old ferry is a reminder of the past. Now the town is booming again. Could they turn the old ferry into a museum? It's pity for this ship to just sit there.
I like the overall yellowish tone of the image. It is very suggestive of it's past. I really hope that the prosperity lasts for a longtime to come. You are someone who think deeply, may be you have a good idea to bring this area back to what it was and more. In Japan there are similar ares with similar problem. Your image make me think about many aspects of life. Please do accept my compliments for your image presented for us.
Very best regards,
Have a great week, Martin

This is such a timeless shot, but I'm glad you didn;t convert it to B&W. The colour rendering is wonderful and the water is just luminous. That poor old ferry looks like she's seen better days, but it really is a wonderful subject for the photographer. Have you any close-ups?
A lovely weekend to you Cutie Corps
