Photographer's Note
Back home again in Vancouver.
For the longest time, i've wanted to capture this scene - more so at sunrise or blue hour, but the mid morning had to satisfy me here. This is one of those bridge shots, taken from the Cambie Street Bridge. WHat makes it very difficult are the large trucks and many cars zooming beside me less than a foot away, then ontop of that you have lots of joggers and bikers wanting to share the small sidewalk too.
Way in the background you can see the rounded globe, thats Science World, as seen in a few of my other photos.
I know i completely broke the Horizon rule here, as people often say not to place the horizon in the middle of the frame - oh well!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend
Cheers

Hello Craig,
A fine composition that makes good use of the sweeping curve of the walkway to draw the viewer into the scene. It is well framed and perfectly suits the vertical format. Pleasing ambient light with attractive natural colours; very good sharpness. The horizon is fine so far as I'm concerned.

Rules are made to be broken. It looks fine just like it is. I would like to see a blue hour shot here however. You are lucky to live in a city that affords many photo opportunities. I can only imagine a fog shrouded Stanley Park bridge or Jericho beach sunsets.Keep em coming.
Best regards,

Craig,
I like your composition and as for the horizon rule, I don't think it is an issue in this composition. The curving pathways lead the eye into the shot perfectly giving the photo a nice sense of direction. The vertical format is great showing us the depth of the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

Hi Craig!
An incredibly well-composed photograph, with the curve of the pathway leading to the skyline and the people placed at lower right give an excellent sense of scale - a brilliant POV. Also, the reflection of the skyline in the water is excellent.

Hello Craig ,
In the case , the horizon line in the middle works very well , because the high building in the left provides a good balance . The composiiton is excellent in this vertical format . Curves ,lines , colors , reflections .... so many beautiful features .
The sharpness is excellent , too . I don't know if you've increased it after resizing (I've readen your discussion with Andre . I've tried to to post a WS on your boat reflection picture , but I can not)

Hi Craig
This is a spectacular view using your creative pov with main subjects in right place. Rules are made to be broken sometimes to express our ideas, never mind about that. The winding road leads eyes to the far bg giving depth and good perspective. And the added value
is the human figs in the fb that balacne this image nicely. Your technical execution is impeccable.
Great shot, thks for sharing.

Superb vertical composition. An image very graphic with the high vertical buildings and the incurving way in the FG. Good managment of light give beautiful natural colors and beautiful reflections in the BG. Incredible depht too with the superb propsect open and the details well colected in the BG. The peoles in the FG give interesting elements of life and too an idea of the scale of the place. Very good photowork.

Hello Craig,
I would not worry about the horizon, I think that the curve of the path is the most important element in the photo. It draws the eye in nicely and also divides the blue part of the photo from the green one very well. The people in the corner provide a nice red accent. Well done!

Ciao Craig,

Hi Craig, it's not often we see a vertical frame from you but you;ve really used this to superb effect. The curves of the banks of the river really look great and have been enhanced by the vertical format. I love the symmetry of the 3 buildings and their reflections in the BG. The image is luminous. Congrats, another beauty for you collection. Have a great day, Lisa

Hi Craig
That is an absolute modern architecture dream shot. Your POV is amazing, I guess you had a hard time to find the right spot - from another skyscraper - Excellent light management, vibrant color hues and fine sharpness. Well done. Thanks for your critique of my flooded paddy field shot. Sometimes you have to be lucky, when you take photographs, rain mostly is not allowed

Hi Craig,
This is a very successful composition with the long curve of the embankment leading up to the nearer high building. The line of other high buildings in the background are perfect counterbalances to this one. Furthermore, the reflections in the water are just perfect!

Hi Craig,
The curve of the shore and the reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is sending my eyes toward the highrise buildings in the background which is giving depth to the scenery. The afternoon light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig
A very attractive photo which works well even if you broke the horizon rule a bit. I like the way the road leads us into the image in a diagonal. Very well chosen POV, and a very good result despite the difficulties with traffic etc. Colours and sharpness are excellent. Have a great week. TFS.

Hello Craig,
I like this one, mainly for the very well balanced composition, especially with the curve of the shore track bringing the look from foregound to background.
The placement of the horizon is not a rule, but more a guideline to be adapted to the elements inside the frame. Here as it is, it works. Perhaps it would have been different without the clouds but as there are there :-)
Yves.
