Photographer's Note

"The Bean", "That Big Shiny Thing in Millennium Park"

It is on the north east side of the Millennium Park in Chicago.
It is one of the most popular photo opportunities in the city.
It is made of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates. Under these plates, it is actually hollow on the inside. It was built in place because it was too heavy, bulky and dangerous to transport into Downtown Chicago. Also, after it was built, it had to be highly polished and have its seams removed, giving the appearance of being one large shiney object, instead of being the sum of many shiny stainless steal plates.
It is 110 tons.42 feet wide,66 feet long,33 feet high.
Anish Kapoor created it who is an Indian sculptor.
