Photographer's Note
These new set of buildings catch my eye whenever I pass by them. They are the American Copper Buildings, completed in 2017, and, as their name implies, the exteriors are made of copper. :-) The two towers, each with 48 floors, are connected by a three-level sky bridge, and they appear to be dancing with each other. The sky bridge is 300 feet (more than 91 meters) above street level.
This is the first new sky bridge built in Manhattan in 80 years. It contains a fitness center, a lounge, and a 75 foot (almost 23 meter) indoor, lap pool. The length and placement of the pool makes it possible to swim from one building to the other! On top of the sky bridge, there is also a private space available to only three residents – I guess the three that are willing to pay for it. :-)
As time passes, the copper exteriors will begin to change color, similar to the oxidation that has taken place on the Statue of Liberty. Most people are familiar with the Statue’s current, green color, but it actually started out brown. According to the internet, this is an intentional characteristic of these new buildings. I don’t know how long it will take for them to change color, but I like the shiny brown that is currently visible.
The location is on First Avenue, just a few blocks south of the United Nations. Being next to the East River, most of the condos have wonderful river views.
In the WS is a close-up view of the sky bridge.

Hi Brenda. Beautiful perspective! The small palace would be one of the highest if it were in my town, but here it seems really tiny with that giant glass and metal behind it. A truly winning POV choice and interesting notes, great post! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Brenda,
A cool new addition to the Manhattan skyline. I really like their elegant design and the sunlight brings them out perfectly. Excellent composition and point of view. Will be interesting to see how quickly they'll change colour.

Hello Brenda,
It's unbelievable that a fitness center, a lounge and an indoor lap pool are all located inside that sky bridge. Too bad the top of it is reserved for private spaces. There should have been a viewing platform :)
Yet both buildings are much higher than the sky bridge.
You've taken this picture clearly from a very good angle with the small red building (only 6 floors :) ) on the foreground.
Beautiful with the shadow of another building on the right Copper Building.
I'm curious about the colours in the future. But that will take a long time.
Best regards, Paul

Bonjour, Brenda,
Ces tours géantes semblent des colosses qui voudraient écraser ces petits immeubles (tout est relatif) à leur pied.
J'aime beaucoup le contraste entre les deux.
Bonne note d'accompagnement également.
Amitiés.

Hello Brenda,
Awesome picture and even more the note about the sky bridge. Have you been there? The possibility to swim from one building to the other high 90 m above the ground sounds incredible. Also, the changing colors is an interesting feature. But it is natural with the copper surface. The green color is due to the natural patina formed on the surface. Fantastic architecture. The buildings really look like dancing.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello Brenda,
These buildings are rather fantastic and their unusual shapes are accentuated by the comparison with the more conventional lower building in front of them. Their gradual change of colors would be interesting to watch, but I guess that will take a long time. Long enough for people to get used to the new tones. I wonder where the bread & butter is available. Probably not on the sky bridge? ;-)
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Brenda,
Le bonheur des amateurs des photos d'architecture. Très réussi car tu as réussi à entrer l'ensemble au complet dans le cadre. On a l'impression de regarder deux robots qui dansent.

Hello Brenda,an excellent piece of information; will you take a shot to share when the buildings turn green?
Fascinating design. We can appreciate how they seem to be leaning towards each other in this viewpoint.
Excellent.

Hi Brenda
A superb upward pov with good symmetry of the 2 buildings bent in the middle with a connecting catwalk. Reminds me of the dancing buildings in Prague. Tfs!

Hi Brenda,
this is a luck to live in a place which is constantly changing. I have been to NYC after September 11 and before anything was built there. So my view of NY is set in time, while the city has changed in the meantime... Same goes for many other places like Las Vegas which I remember visiting few years after the first visit and I was so surprised!!
Great presentation of this new structure here. The building in foreground adds a nice touch as well.
Very well done!

Hello Brenda
A remarkable twin building connected by a swimming pool. It would be very special if you could look down through a glass floor in the pool.
It is a little disappointing that the building in front is a bit out of tune, although there will also be people who find the two towers disharmonise with the building in front.
Great observation.
Have a good week, groet Rob

Hello, Brenda!
Imposing buildings with very nice modern architecture and captured from a well chosen POV! The small building makes a great contrast with them, especially for its strong colors! Fantastic view! Beautiful job!

What a beautiful picture, Brenda. The contrast between those buildings is quite interesting and the low point of view is favorable for an impressive perspective.

Hi Brenda,
An interesting design of twin buildings with a sky bridge connecting both. The lower part to the buildings are skewed and the facades are covered with copper panels that will change color in the future.
Great photo with perfect colors, light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Zbigniew
