Locked Bridge, a photo from Pennsylvania, Northeast

Photographer's Note

It was a cold rainy day,but I decided to stop at this bridge and take a few photos. The bridge is not in use and it has locked doors.
It is a part of Mill Bridge Village Campresort.

Imagine a long journey west in a Conestoga Wagon, transporting corn to be ground at the mill. Your wagon approaches its destination -- 1738 Herr's Grist Mill and the 1844 Covered Bridge (longest in Lancaster County). Mill Bridge Campresort is home to these two registered historic landmarks.

In the early 18th century, Herr's Mill was an important neighborhood center. Not only was it a place to stop between trips, but it was also a place to purchase supplies and exchange news for locals and visitors alike. The Mill and the Village functioned throughout the 1800's and into the turn of the century. 1929 was the last year the Mill operated.

Hello Brano.
Very nice composition with one of these curious covered bridges, I like it as you have composed the image with this great tree which branches create part of a natural frame for the bridge, it hurts of the day so gray that gives a leaden sky, good color and a suitable light.

Hi Brano,
Lovely capture of this old covered bridge.
She looks a bit forelorned on this rainy day.
The foreground tree makes an excellent lead-in to this fine image.
