The Fair, a photo from Vermont, Northeast

Photographer's Note

The annual Champlain Valley Fair is held at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont. It started yesterday and lasts about ten days. People from all over come to enjoy this huge fair. There are carnival games, rides, food, flower and garden displays, animals like cows, pigs, horses, rabbits, and many more, animal shows, handicrafts, and so on. There are also concerts performed by well known artists, like Keith Urban,which was last night. Carrie Underwood of American Idol will also be performing here. I have attended a couple of shows in the past like Leanne Rhimes, and Clay Aiken.
My family and I had a good time last night. Will be posting more pictures from the fair on TE.
Oh by the way, the start of the fair is also an indication of the end of summer! Damn!

Hello Harjit,

This is a very catchy and atmospheric shot. It’s a kind of paradoxal scene, where fun and bright light meet menacing and dark clouds, like coming out of a Tim Burton movie. I’ve read in your note that you will post more pictures from the fair and I hope we will be able to see a close-up shot of one ride, with bright neon and angry sky.

I agree with Andre. This photo really have a sense of atmosphere you can feel in Tim Burtons movie.
Place for fun covered with dark and danger feelings of incertainity.

Just the perfect time of the evening for a shot like this...nice light in that big cloudy sky and the lights coming on in the midway.
I absolutely HATE the orange frame but I guess that's nitpicking

A nice scene well captured. The variety of colour, lights and attractions are well captured by your composition and your pov gives a good distribution of the attractions too. Nice detail and well exposed.

The amazing on your picture is that because of the sky the whole atmosphere changes...Yes..it could be a pleasant picture but the dramatic sky causes feelings of danger and fear. I can say that it is a special picture of luna park games!I agree with the second and the third critique that you recieved and everithing that was said about Tim Burton movie!

Hey Harjit,

I was led to your intro from your forum discussion... I don't even want to get into it!

I like this pic, but I think the clouds up top are much too dark.. I guess you can't do much if that's how it really was! Did you do any post-processing on this shot? Also, the lights on the rides would have had more impact had they been brighter. Just my opinion though.

Hello Harjit, this is a great combination of light and colour showing the excitement of the fairground. The drama of the rides is complemented perfectly by the dramatic clouds behind.

Hi Harjit, I like the view point with the rides at the bottom and at a corner. The darkening clouds make the photo even better. Good catch.
