Photographer's Note
Lincoln Covered Bridge Woodstock, Vt.
R.W. and B.H.Pinney, 1865
Pratt Arch, 136', spanning Ottauquechee River adjacent to Route 4, approximately 3 miles west of Woodstock village.
The only bridge in the US in which builders attempted to use the complex wood and metal arch patented by T. Willis Pratt 33 years earlier. Pratt's ideas were much easier to implement in all-metal bridges; his legacy can be seen in such throughout Vermont.

Hello Tom ,
This picture completes perfectly a precedent post . It showed more of the bridge itself . But this one is better for the perspective on the nice building , and the fine diagonals . Contarsts , colors and sharpness are excellent .
Best regards

Hello Tom! With your wonderful collection you could fill any VT calendar!!!! Very nice the bow of the street leading us to the bridge and you wonder how it is on the other side. You picked a wonderful autumn day for this photo. I have been to Woodstock and I guess I might have come over this bridge, I am pretty sure I have. Always a pleasure to see it. Best regards, Barbara.

Great one Tom, in my new found understanding of how tough these are to photograph I can honestly say you have done a great job on this one too. Nice color and I love the angle.

hi Tom
A perfect day to shoot this autumn color scenery at the covered bridge which is always a good indication of rural country. Good light condition to capture the blue sky and bright color of trees. The bridge with its light+shadow effect is looking wonderful.

Until seeing "The Bridges of Madison County" some years ago I had no idea such bridges existed. Nicely composed image with the use of the road to lead the eye into the bridge. The autumn trees are doing a wonderful framing job.

Hello Tom,
Excellent point of view adding dynamics to the scene!
And the bridge is a little beauty, unpainted with the wood left to be sunburned...
The curving road is a fine element, and the autumn foliage adds the colour touch!

Hello Tom,
A very good point of view on the bridge making good use of the curving road to draw the viewer into the image. The framing trees in their autumn foliage add much to the mood and nicely complement the wood work on the bridge.

hi Tom,
I agree with Barbara, a calendar with your covered bridges photos would look very good :)
I like a lot how you have used the curve of the road to lead the eye towards the bridge, and how all the elements fit together in the frame - the golden branch on the left adds depth to the scene, for example. perfect clarity too, very nice work.

Kristine

Hi, Tom -
A really nice shot which records an all-but-vanished part of American history: the covered bridge. The perfect sky and the fall colors are an added bonus. I also like the sweep of the road leading up to the bridge; I have a definite feeling of standing below and walking up.
Best,
Dan

Tom,
This is a fine shot of this great old bridge. The bridge is nicely framed by the trees in full autumn spender. The road and guardrail lead the eye into the shot nicely. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Hi Tom
Wonderful capture with good perspective, definition and framing. The tree with its leaves in autumn foliage is splendid and the textures of this old bridge became well presented. Splendid job! Best regards, Consuelo

HI Tom,
Let me echo the support for the calendar initiative!
Your images offer beautiful reminiscences of the
US North East. This nice wooden covered bridge is
so typical of VT. The yellow leaves tree is good
reminder of the season. The composition works
very well also.
Kind regards! Maryori :)

Hi Tom,
Well done, perfect angle on this beauty. The sloping lines of the bridge make it look like it is leaning into your shot.
Very nice, very nice indeed.

Hello Tom!
Excellent point of view for this one. The curved road and fence guide my glance to the bridge. The bridge tilts or maybe it is an illusion. That a great legacy indeed. The tree on the left fills up well the corner. That one looks like the ones we have in Québec. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards
Denis!

Hi Tom
I like the strong curve in the road that takes the eye to the bridge. Of course the colours in the trees and the blue sky enhances this shot a lot.

Hi Tom,
Another great covered bridge shot you did. We don't have to many left on this side of the country. Wonderful detail and colors. Like hoew you left some of leaves in the shot and angle of the shot is well done. Great job Tom.
Cheers
Jason.

Hello Tom,
Another of your lovely bridges, taken from a perfect pov to make the most of the sweeping curve of the road.
I like the angle of the bridge which creates a good sense of perspective.
The autumnal trees on either side create good balance and make interesting, natural frames.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
