Blue Cypress Marsh alligator, a photo from Florida, Sud

Photographer's Note

Blue Cypress marsh is about 26 km west of Vero Beach Florida.
We took an airboat ride and this was the first alligator we saw, ~15 years of age.
It was fairly quiet and indifferent for the boat re-visit, as we turned around it held same position on the straw (WS#1).
Besides alligators we saw birds species unique to the area and the Blue Cypress trees – pictures yet to be posted.

Hello Ike,
Travelling by a fairly large boat along the Nile trough South Sudan I saw lots of huge crocodiles, but I was at a much safer distance than you, judging from the interesting WS #2. They are impressive reptiles, and I wouldn't deny that they are quite beautiful, so you were lucky to get so close and manage such perfectly sharp photos.

Hi Ike,a trip looking for alligator is a must for tourists visiting Florida, and you caught the opportunity to see this one in a perfect way, 2 great pics despite the distance very sharp and bright, and an useful view of typical boats too. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Wow, must be really impressive to see an alligator this close. Excellent and clear photo as well. It looks so peaceful now, but I am sure that will change soon if you get too close.

Alligators and crocodiles, alike, don't like to expend more energy that necessary so can provide good photo opportunities. A good photo of this one.

Great series of photos. I have the satisfaction to have seen the alligators from the airboat as well. I think we had a bigger airboats driven by a guide. Yours seems smaller as if you were driving it yourself? Very nice reportage.

Lucky for you alligators are not quite as aggressive as the saltwater or Nile crocodiles, but don't be deceived, because these reptiles can move at lightning speed to attack. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

This is an interesting trio of photos, and the WS photo of the airboat would make a nice main shot, too. You got a very sharp and detailed capture of this large alligator. He looks calm in this shot, but I can just imagine what those teeth can do... Take care!
