Photographer's Note
This was taken at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. The mission of this base was to turn out students educated in electronics to repair and/or operate various pieces of electronic equipment used in the Cold War.
In this case Airman Glass had apparently hit the books, or the bottle, too hard the previous night and was sleeping it off as he stood outside the barracks preparing to march to school.
I hated Keesler and was mortified when it turned out after re-joining the USAF after getting out of the Air Force after my first term, to rejoin and escape the horror of ordinary civilian life I had to go back to a year long tech school.
This time I had my Nikon F from my first tour in Japan and took pictures of student life. I also managed to talk my way into being the shift leader of 300 troops, and thus I didn't have to march to school or the chow hall, which was required of ordinary troops. So I took pictures, got bored with school and took by pass tests and in about six moinths was reassigned to the same job I had when I left Japan the first time. I'll post some of the school life shots because most shots people see of the military is 50 poor goons lined up in a mass formation for a school class photo. Not my idea of photography.

A great capture, Thomas. I'm impressed that the guy was able to sleep standing up! I like the choice of B&W.

A 42-year-old picture!
By that time, this must be done by a professional, not amateur at all.
Did you ever check to see if Mister GRASS maybe now on the list of high rank officers, who has a battalion or regiment or air wing under his command?
Cheers! Thanks for sharing this piece of memory.
