Photographer's Note

Houston is a city of contrasts. Its outward face is often new and modern, but it can also often be a hectic, hot and dirty city. A storm was brewing on my drive home one afternoon, and I was looking at the buildings downtown as I approached on one of the overpasses. I was thinking about how much shine there was on the glass buildings when I saw I was getting close to a powerplant that sat right on the edge of downtown.

I shot this blind, through my car's right-hand window (my eyes were on the traffic the whole time, officer. Honest!). The only post-processing I did was to straighten the image a little, sharpen, and adjust the levels.
