Photographer's Note
Cathedral Wash upstream of the trailhead isn't always the confining walls of a slot canyon that define the downstream (and more frequently hiked) side. That doesn't mean getting out of it is much easier. Here the infrequent rains and annual snow melt have cut through the relatively loose deposits of previous eons leaving rubble-filled banks 30 or more feet high. In the distance is the escarpment known as the Vermilion Cliffs.

Hi Mark
An excellent one from Arizona - good detail and colour and good converging section of the canyon. Better still in the large view.
cheers

Hello Mark,
Another excellent photograph from the NP.
The scrub plants anchor the f/g whilst the line of the valley floor guides us irresistibly inwards.
The colours are wonderful, strong and true.
The steep sides of the canyon look both grand and formidable. They certainly look and sound difficult to climb. Would you need to know the weather forecast, to make sure there isn't a freak, unusual storm, before you explore here?
Thanks for sharing this,
Bev :-)
