Photographer's Note

On April 2006 I had the privilege of visiting the Grand Canyon and hike to Plateu Point. The day before, however, I walked the south rim. I did not get tired of staring at the amazing gap on the earth. While the Rim is about 2000mts high, the Colorado River is only around 500mts over the sea level! Resarchers beleive the Canyon started forming around 8 million years ago when, for some unknown reason, the Colorado plateu started rising from being the seafloor of a shallow sea to its current height. The Canyon is the work of the Colorado River which currents carved the different sediment's rock forming the actual landscape. While walking on the rim, I found this beautiful spot which seemed to me as a natural window to the Grand Canyon and had to take a picture of it. Although I don't remember the time of the day I took it, I did it when the sun was relativelly high.
