Storm?, a photo from California, Ouest

Photographer's Note

This was taken at Pt. Lobos State Reserve. Beautiful weather. I was using a 100mm lens (I think) focusing on the rocks when a rather large wave crashed ashore.

Added saturation, levels adjustment, a bit of green/yellow, and unsharp mask.

I like the very wet feeling of this shot, the tones and how the silhouettes of those two rocks can be seen through the water drops. I think that the rocks are quite important elements in this shot – they make the image more interesting and force the viewer look through the drops. I also like how the water drops make the whole image grainy. Great timing and framing. Very well done, Adam.

This is quite an incredible shot. The splash of the wave works perfectly as a main subject and to me it seems a bit like falling rain. Very well done!

This is a great shot Adam. I never even thought of capturing anything like this - just goes to show how interesting it is to compare photos from the same place taken by different people. This really is one of a kind.

There are enough details here to give us clues, but the abstract quality still persists, making this an engaging, interesting photo. It is also a unique view of waves that I've never seen before. Incidentally, I like the fact that I don't really know what kind of water this is: I would have guessed a river. The lack of any strong element makes me focus on the water droplets, which I think works.

I think maybe i would have like this photo to be taken a split second earlier to show a bit more of how the wave really crashes in to the clifs. In this way, the photo has an abstract kind of feel to it. It is very well captured and dramatic but IMHO it misses something. I think it is me wanting to see the crashing in to the waves more. But that is just my opinion.

There's a lot of energy to this scene. It's very nicely captured. The wave droplets are amazing. The entire break is captured very nicely. The surface of the water seen through the breaking wave adds even more energy to it in its roughness. The two rocks out there are like two eyes staring through all of this back at the viewer. Very nicely captured. Even the sound of the crash is in this as it is easy to imagine the sound coinciding with the scene. Very interesting and very nicely captured.

Hello Adam, I like the blue effect that you did. I don't know if you cropped it or if it was taken like that but it's a good composition of POV. And the splash of water all over the photo is very unusual.

I don't know about you but it seems very difficult on TE, compared to TL, to have feedback on our photos. People look at them and leave no comments or critiques. We cannot know what's wrong with our pics or how to improve ourselves.
