Photographer's Note
It is a lantern, a nature one. The pity part is that it stayed there only a few short minutes.
This is a sunset scene at Redondo Beach Pier. A picture on the pier and an introduction about Redondo Beach and the pier are provided in my yesterday’s post here. The water is Pacific Ocean.

wow Wes, this is great shot
excellent symmetry composition, great silhouette with the sunset on the centre
and the light on the water also I like it

Lovely photo! Redondo is a beautiful place, I've been a few times. You realy capture that in your beautiful sunset. I like the sun's reflection on the water.
Only suggestion would be to crop it a bit on the left to make the sun the direct center.

Hello Wang,
Il a fallu attendre que le soleil soit au milieu pour une symétrie parfaite.
C'est réussi; les couleurs sont belles et le cadrage parfait.

Hi Wes,
I salute your quick reaction to this wonderful moment - to freeze it and literally stop time!! It's so difficult to be at the right place at the right moment, and you got it. Brilliant shot!! All the best.

Cool shot Wes!
The sunset is nice enough on it's own- but you've found a great subject to silhouette- with those great sculpture looking parts to it....
Nicely captured mate!

Hi Wes
Also I have discovered the same thing about that lantern, It's an untrustful one. It always shine that wonderful whenever the camera is home or the motif is to far away. :)
Lovely shot
Well done

Hi Wes,
A very beautiful one !! Good symetry, and the presence of the people makes it smooth and more accessible. Colors and clarity are good, but maybe a small crop to emphazise the simmetry would improve it a bit, don't you think ?
Cheers,

Easily among your best work so far, Wes. Great use of silhouettes in which the construction of the pier provides a nice graphical treat, and the inclusion of the people is excellent as well. Of course you found a great shooting position to be able to frame the sun just like that. The orange reflections on the rippled water are great too, kinda like laying out steps that the viewer can take to get deeper into this view. Well done.

One of your fintest, Mr. Wes. The silhouettes and symmetry are perfect here. I also much like the warmth brought by the sun on one hand and the people arrayed on the pier on the other. The objects are very clear and defined, and the water is rippled and full of mood as well. The reflection is subtle, not overwhelming. The one set of posts angled breaks the symmetry and uniformity just enough to add to the artistry. Very well seen and rendered, Wes.

Bonjour Wes,
Un très beau coucher de soleil non agressif, avec de jolis reflets mordorés à la surface de la mer. J'aime beaucoup ces silhouettes qui sont très nettes.
C'est une très agréable image Wes. Bien fait !

Well I love sunsets at teh Pacific Ocean. This is great Wes...actually very nice to view. Now I see the effects of the cool effect of those metal sail structures overlapped into each other. I also see small palms on the pier. Would you do me a big facor and explain to me how you link to photos together with a word. I know its simple but I cannot quite figure out. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks Wes in advance..you're a real sophisticated Dude.

Hi Wes, Indeed your picture reminds me of that of Pascal. The sun was softer to you than it was to him. You manage to get details in the foreground. There is something else in your composition beside the symetry. It has to do with the pier floor masking the horizon. Great work.
