Photographer's Note

This is inside the active Catholic Parish Church of the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá, which is run by the Franciscans.
The Mission San Diego de Alcalá was founded in 1769 by Padre Junípero Serra. It was the first of the 21 Spanish missions in Alta California (today's California).
On plaque on a wall you can read:
Reconstructed by the generous aid of the citizens of San Diego, 1931. Fully restored by the Charity of the Hearst Foundation, 1946. Rededicated to the glory of God and the salvation of souls by its re-establishment as a parish church under the title Mission San Diego de Alcalá, 1941.
See also the Mission Campanario (bells tower).
This photo is part of the theme Spanish / Mexican Missions.
