Photographer's Note

Founded on the second half of the eighteenth century, the San Juan Capistrano mission is one of the largest of its kind in California. It is the result of the efforts of earlieast European settlers and their mission to convert the native Indians, it was a oasis of refuge for Catholic Spain's fer-de-lance people: friar monks, oportunistic adventurers and conquistador mercenaries.
