Photographer's Note
I've been reviewing old photos as I clean up my hard drive and came across this image taken from the Headlands above the Golden Gate Bridge on the same day as a photo I previously posted on TE called Bon Voyage!. I'd rushed to this overlook specifically to get a photo of this cruise ship that I'd observed while driving over the hills above Sausalito. It was such a glorious day that I spent a bit of time shooting in all directions. Somehow I overlooked this wonderful image that shows the north approach of the Golden Gate Bridge, which was behind me. In the mid-ground you see Fort Baker with a private yacht club in the small harbor. You see the hills above Sausalito and then in the distance Angel Island on the right and the shoreline of first Belvedere and then Tiburon.
Photography has once again captured my fancy, no doubt because we've been experiencing the wonderful cloud filled skies of spring that add so much drama to a scene. Perhaps I'll add a more recent photo to complement this offering. In the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy a day on San Francisco Bay.

Hi Curtis,
A good high POV for this general view... nice light and colors and fine sharpness... nice sky and sense of depth with islands in BG..

Two things immediately stand out about this picture: the great sweep of the view and the richness of the color. I like the way you've composed this -- the meeting of hills and ocean, the balance of earth and sky and sea. And the color, well, it probably couldn't have been more apt if you'd painted it. Nice.

Hello Curtis,
What a wonderful view of the San Francisco Bay region looking northeast. It made me think immediately of the panoramic view of the bay in Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo," shot of course in the 1950s in Cinemascope, but with the same richness of color and depth. Angel Island in the right, the Tiburon peninsula jutting out into the bay, the intense clouds, the openness of the sky, the communities on the opposite shore. It's all quite beautiful...
Best wishes to you,
José

Its great to see you posting on a more reg base, Curtis. This a delightfully graphic and richly textured Golden Gate view. I especially like the steel-concrete contrast here...and ofcourse the backdrop is fascinating too. Lovely work.
Have a fine weekend,
Bert

Hi Curtis, What a nice composition with these natural elements like the island in the background, the trees and bushes and the approach of the bridge. The colors, especially the dark green, are fabulous!
I can still be a bit envious when looking at your shots, you can look down on the world, I have to climb a tower, (and thus always in an urban environment) before I can do that. Everything is so flat here.
And where are those beautiful clouds? Or did the rain come out and did that force you to keep your camera at home?
