Photographer's Note
Yet another shot from my trip to Las Vegas. This one was taken a while after the "Braver than I" photo, further into the park. I found these plant things kind of interesting, although I'm not really sure what they are. This is beautiful country, well worth visiting as it is only a short drive from the strip. Even though these Las Vegas shots don't seem to get many critiques I figured I would post them as this landscape is very different from many places on earth. Hope you like it.

Hi, Kirk!
The strange beauty ot this barren land is very intriguing to an European sight, like mine. I see that rocks layers may reveal to a geologist a lot of secrets about Earth's past...
I like the focus and the vivid colors of your photo. I am thankful to you for acquainting me with your great land.

The dark blue sky contrasting with the colours in the rock works well, as does the curve of the rocks down toward the centre of the image. The large plant in the foreground hasn't worked so well for me for two reasons. One - it blocks the view of the left hand rock faces and Two it is in deep shadow.
I can't say whether a slightly different viewpoint would have worked as, apart from that one element, I really like the overall composition.

Hello Kirk, this is a nicely done photograph and your point of view is well studied. The only thing I see that may improve it is to do some post processing to add highlights and emphasize the details at the foreground. Although that takes time, your own self satisfaction pays for it.
thank you for your comments on my photo, "Now it is Nightime". The boat did not sto for me. I was using a Nikkor VR (vibration reduction)lens. That took care of the motion and vibration from the boat. I am fully satisfied with that lens.

This is my kind of country, Kirk! I like the depth of field here, and the close and far objects so well placed. Nice work!
