Cemetery Ridge, a photo from Pennsylvania, Northeast

This is one of the many Union cannons at the "High Water Mark" on Cemetery Ridge.
Cemetery Ridge is a geographic feature in Gettysburg National Military Park south of the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, that figured prominently in the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1 to July 3, 1863. It formed a primary defensive position for the Union Army during the battle, roughly the center of what is popularly known as the "fish-hook" line.
The ridge rises only about 40 feet (12 m) above the surrounding terrain and is under 2 miles (3.2 km) long. The northern end rises to become Cemetery Hill, the southern descends to low, wooded, and sometimes marshy ground just north of Little Round Top.
At the northern end of Cemetery Ridge is a copse of trees and a low stone wall that makes two 90-degree turns; the latter has been nicknamed The Angle and the High Water Mark of the Confederacy. This area, and the nearby Codori Farm on Emmitsburg Road, were prominent features in the progress of Pickett's Charge during the third day of battle, as well as Maj. Gen. Richard H. Anderson's division assault on the second.

Hello Asa,
A good composition with these three main elements lined up in a diagonal across the frame. The image has good natural colours and excellent sharpness.

Hi Asa,

The point of view is showing the details and colors of the Cemetery Ridge area. It is also leading my eyes toward the houses which is giving depth to the composition. The late morning light is enhanciong the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.

Hi Asa,

The battles of the past were very different. Artillery, cavalry and infantry, ending in a hand-to-body. This place reminds us of this.
Excellent composition with the cannon next to the monuments in honor the fallen at battle. Splendid colors and great light.

Also in Belgium are different American militair cemeteries out of WAR II, the battle of the Ardennes.
Excellent composition with the cannon next to the monuments in honor the fallen at battle.

How well groomed the old gun, like today came from the factory. That your civil war was bloody and terrible, terrible, perhaps the most by the fact that his brother was shot at his brother. These cemeteries are necessary as a warning.
