One of the geothermal regions of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, the Mammoth Hot Springs are a colorful and popular attraction in the northwestern part of the park.
Wikipedia's describes this feature as: "...a large hill of travertine that has been created over thousands of years as hot water from the spring cooled and deposited calcium carbonate (over two tons flows into Mammoth each day in a solution)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammoth_Hot_Springs#Mammoth_Hot_Springs
