This is nicely done Mike. I like the composition and especially appreciate the limited depth of field with the large, geared wheel as the focal point. You capture the sentiment expressed in your title very well. I might have increased contrast a bit and would consider a sepia filter to add to the feeling of age, but those are simply idle thoughts. This is fine just as you present it. Excellent work.

Excellent depth of field and nicely seen. Your point of view is perfect bringing us in with this ruined piece of a machine. This is also very nice for the textures captured on the old concrete surface. Where about was this building? Is this the abandoned dry dock company building in old River Town east of the RenCen? I would just be curious to see it in color, too. That's just a personal taste, though, since I like how colors can look in industrial ruins, vibrant yet dead. But it's certainly very well photographed and documents a relic of the past very effectively.

An excellent shot, Mike. The DOF is great and the subject captures the ruins of Detroit's abandoned industrial areas wonderfully. Great work!

i'm new to this site from detroit, this building is right on the river just east of the ren-cen. id bet on it, i watch the fireworks on the decrepid tin roof! best spot in the D the helicopters took off from the old medusa cement company directly across the street flying american and canadian flags almost blew my hat off, i had six people pissing their pants thinking they were gonna fall through the roof.
but great shot. look for mine soon.
