Glastornet i Portland

Dedicated to Gert (Holmetz)

Not long ago, Lars posted this photo of one of many bridges in Portland. On the right side of his photo you can see a slender glass tower. In his response, Gert stated that he thought this was an interesting tower that he wanted to know more about. Lars replied that he needed to be patient and that I would undoubtedly show more of this building and to satisfy Gert's curiosity here and in the following posts more of these elegant towers that are part of the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
A difficult assignment to select the best photos because I have a lot of this slender towers both from the outside and the inside.
In this presentation I first focus on close ups of the tower from the outside. More info about the building, architect and such at my next post.

The first photo shows the entire tower. Remarkably, the tower is placed on a small pyramid of the same material.
The second photo shows the upper part of the spire. I chose this photo especially for Gert because the shape reminds me of the tip of a pen. A sharp pen, the tool of a journalist.
The third photo shows a close up of the side of the tower. We can clearly see the construction of the spire from the outside and the inside.
