Photographer's Note

Hiking out of the western portion of Cathedral Wash, I wished I had eyes in the back of my head. That wasn't so I could use them to monitor this developing scene behind me, rather so that I could safely walk backwards while adding more and more photos to my camera's memory cards. I ended my hike feeling blessed by nature.

This was my final photo from the hike, taken a short distance up the wash from the pull out area that serves both as the trailhead and an information "kiosk" for the less adventurous as there are signs describing the geological formations and the millions of years each color band represents.

Editing consisted of reducing the highlights in the sky and applying auto contrast to the land beneath it.
